The shipyard cannot afford to lose so many young men to the War effort when they need their skills and training to teach the new women how to build ships, so they decided to take a handful of them and give them an experimental injection. We've turned them into female versions of themselves so they would not have to go to War and could stay behind with the new female workforce and make sure they knew how to build the ship and how to be safe doing it.
