Centurion Marcus Aurelius dripping with sweat hacked his way through the horde of Barbarians that streamed over the walls of the fort before a sharp pain in the back of the head turned his world to darkness.
Several hours later he awoke feeling at peace for the first time in many years.
He lay there on the palliasse as the sun and the sound of bird song streamed through the open window.
He pulled himself up feeling extremely strange.
He walked gingerly over to the open window and stared out over the fertile fields.
He stood there for a good few minutes before he noticed the changes that had happened to his body.
He stared down at the two glorious globes of flesh hanging off his chest the Slender arms and tight waist and the plane rough skirt that covered his legs.
He stood there in a state of shock wondering why he was not terrified that he had become a woman.
He stood there & watched a beautiful white dove fly across the fields feathers glistening in the sun as it headed towards him.
He watched the dove with fascination as it grew closer to the window.
He watched the Dove gently land on the window frame before being forced back by a brilliant white light.
Which when it diminished in brightness he saw the dove that had landed had turned into a beautiful young woman dressed in white with a crown of gold fan leaves upon her head.
He immediately dropped to one knee and lowered his head in reverence recognising the woman as a goddess.
The lady spoke to him in a soft calming voice.
I am Diana the goddess of the hunt, moon and birthing Marcus Aurelius our bravest and most loyal servant who was promised protection by the gods for your protection of our vestal virgins on Pompeii.
You are now one of my handmaidens hand-picked by Juno to be saved from the battle and reborn in her image to go forth and be a wife and mother to a new generation of Romans as the time of the Roman empire draws nigh.
Marcus Aurelius stared up at Diana knowing it was not wise to anger the gods or goddesses.
He thanked her for saving his life and pledging even though he hated the idea of it to go forth and do her work.

Love it!!!!!
