Jonathan was testing out a new high frequency transmitter.
He was bouncing the signal off the surface of the moon and measuring the time it took to return to earth.
Halfway through his experiments he did not notice a red warning light flashing on his control panel.
That was warning him one of the transformers was overloading which exploded spectacularly & threw him across the room and into a bank of servers.
He woke several hours later lying on a rather lumpy mattress looking up at a unfamiliar ceiling with a splitting headache.
He rolled out of bed and could not help noticing how strange his body felt as he did so.
He walked across the uncarpeted floor towards a mirror hanging above a fireplace and got his second shock of the day.
He was now somehow a young woman.
After panicking for almost an hour he pulled himself together and started looking for clues to his identity.
According to the ID and the ration book he found in the handbag sitting on the table next to the bed he was 23 years old named Emily birkinstyle and was a parts control analyst for a company specialising in valves diodes and condensers.
He struggle to fit in as a woman especially as one in the 1940s.
He was just so used to being a 90s man.
But despite all the problems he needed to keep her job if he was ever going to return back to his own body and his own time.
It took him 6 long agonising months to purloin the necessary parts to rebuild an antiquated version of his high frequency transmitter in the basement of the small house he shared with 4 other young ladies billeted there.
But finally he was ready to flick the switch and hopefully get back to his own body and his own time.
He sat in front of his machine checking his wiring making sure everything was right before flipping the switch.
He felt a strange tingling throughout his body as he increased the power trying to recreate the accident that had sent him there.
But despite burning half the wiring and blowing several valves nothing happened apart from his hair standing up on end and a buzzing in his head.
He had no idea why it did not work as everything was perfect but there was just one thing he did not know and could not adjust for if he did.
Back in his own time his body was now six feet under as as far as everybody knew he had died in the lab.
