Everybody had heard the legend of the underground water spring that turned men into women and women into men.
Nobody believed it.
But now and then somebody comes along who is determined to find it.
So, the Guardians of the Spring would point them in the right direction, as they believed the Spring needed sacrifices to keep the goddesses happy.
Samuel was just such a person.
