The happiest I ever been.

As a man, I had no natural urge to want children.

I was happy going through life casually and easily.

I had no true responsibilities or commitments.

Then my consciousness was put in the body of a pregnant woman.

All of a sudden my life had changed and become a lot more complicated.

I spend the next 8 months miserable uncomfortable angry and regretful.

Then my water breaks.

I went through 23 hours of labour.

With a lot of screaming shouting and swearing I pushed out a healthy baby girl.

The minute I hold her in my arms my whole entire life changes.

I no longer want to give her up.

All I can think about is looking after her.

I guess that's what they call mothering Instinct.

Before I knew it I was breastfeeding for the first time and loving it.

Being a single mother is not easy.

On top of all the baby things like changing nappies and breastfeeding, there was my own physical and mental well-being to take care of.

A woman's body goes through a lot of physical and mental changes during pregnancy and birth.

A woman's body just does not bounce back after pushing a baby out.

There are months and months of recovery.

Then there is postpartum depression.

Luckily I did not have to face that on my own.

There was my team of health workers behind me to listen and take care of me and the baby.

Being a woman and a mother is hard work but it's the most rewarding thing in the world.

I now feel sorry for men and women who cannot experience what I have experienced.

If the great shift could be reversed now and I could have my old life back I would not want it.

I love being a mother and could not see my life in any other way.
