Girls' Night In and Out by FJ (Sunday)

Allan went to his local public library to visit the recording studio in the library's new maker space. 

He was shy and self-conscious but thought he had a pretty good voice and felt that, deep inside, there was a confident, fearless, bold, even flamboyant performer waiting to burst out. 

He worked up the nerve to approach a pretty young librarian to ask for help getting started using the recording studio.

"No problem!" she answered enthusiastically.

"Just step into the booth here!

You could be the next Miley Cyrus!"

In the 2 seconds it took to step into the booth and for the librarian to close the door, a storm of thoughts raged in Allan's head.

"Why did she say 'Miley Cyrus'?" 

"Why did she compare potential me to a chick?"

"Was she mocking me?" 

"Am I a sexist for not taking that as a compliment?" 

"Miley is successful! . . . And hawwwt!"

"I want to be successful and hot!"

"I wish I could attract a tenth of the girls Miley does!"

"Was the librarian flirting with me?"

Before he could answer any of these questions for himself, it went totally dark in the booth and then blindingly bright.

Allan dropped the paper with the lyrics he had intended to sing but it didn't matter.

The instrumentals for G.N.O. started to play and to Allan's surprise he belted the lyrics out perfectly and even found he had dance moves to go with his singing.

He was panting by the end of the song but had never felt so energized in his life.

The door to the booth opened. 

The librarian, looking very satisfied, was holding a mirror. 

Allan saw that he had been transformed into a Miley look-alike. 

For the first time in his life he shrieked with joy. 

He looked at the librarian to see that she was biting her own lower lip.

"Look at you!" the librarian said. 

"That and you turned out really super well!

I get off now . . . work, I mean . . . You wanna go to dinner and then go clubbing?"

Later that night, the librarian got a private performance from the new Miley.
