Learning curve.
Jason stood behind his sister Melanie watching her apply her make-up listening to everything she was saying even if he did not fully understand it all.
He could not understand how girls learnt all this stuff as he stood there watching his sister apply her eyeshadow with a pencil scared that he was going to poke himself in the eye when it came to his turn.
He was grateful that his sister was willing to let him borrow her clothes & help him out with all this girly stuff.
He did not know where he would be with out her as he was still freaking out about being a girl to worry about the finer details of femininity.
But with her help and support he had made it through his first menstrual cycle, learnt how to fasten & unfasten his bra and even the rudimentary basics of makeup and hair.
Which his sister said would make him feel better which he did not believe at the time.
But he was starting to see it less of a task and a learning exercise and instead just started seeing it as having a good time with his sister bonding and having fun.
Which was helping him fit into the world of being a girl / young woman.
