Dead.

Jason just wanted to see his old body one last time after he was told that it had passed away due to a heart attack brought on by the shock of the great shift.

He knew tonight was the night he had to do it as they told him that they would be doing an autopsy and then arranging the funeral which he was allowed to attend if he wanted to.

He was now in the body of an 8 year old girl thanks to the great shift and locked up in a public orphanage as the state did not think he was capable of looking after himself now.

He carefully climbed out of the window and down the rickety drainpipe feeling for the first time in his life frightened and scared.

He made his way slowly across town which took a lot longer than he thought on his short legs and did his best to remember the directions to the public coroner's office only slightly getting lost as everything look so different from his new viewpoint.

He was lucky when he finally made it there as some idiot had left the ambulance bay doors open and he just slipped in and followed the signs for the mortuary.

Where he saw two doctors standing over it discussing how to start the autopsy which really made him feel sick before he turned around and started his long walk back to the orphanage hoping nobody noticed that he had gone.
